Video Collaboration - “Brain Trust”
Modern video conferencing does not allow people to create a good diversified network of friends and experts they can call on as needed.
A more natural form of audio/video communications would allow a network of people to be able to be connected on a real time basis using off the shelf hardware and connect with people when they are available and they want to help.
Here is what I mean. If I have a loose network of people that want to network with me and I with them I could ask for help from my network by placing a written request on our joined message board that only network members receive. Much like Twitter.com. If someone was available and wanted to help me with advice or specific help or information, they could activate the live audio/video connection.
This connection would not be limited to just me and the person that answered the request, but other people could join in as well so that a 3, 4, 5 or 6 way connection was made and a impromptu brain trust was created to address the issue.
Members could drop out of the conference as they wanted to so there was no additional demand on time, longer than they were willing to contribute. Mobile video users would be able to join into the brain trust request/conference as well.
This idea would require a way to network diverse members and to allow them not to be nudged or distracted unless they were open to observing requests for assistance or feedback from their network.
This type of network is beneficial to not only solve your problems, but to allow you to participate in look at a different problem or situation. These types of mental breaks can be very beneficial to help break up a day and stimulate new ways of thinking or solving problems.
