Making quilt tops to sell online. Americans have 3/4 of there closet full of nice clothes that they never wear. Have prepaid mailing boxes to send to persons willing to fill them up with nice unused clothes and fabric. All the business person would need is a sewing machine and simple quilting block designs.
Quilt tops are easier to ship than a whole quilt, lighter in weight. I buy quilt tops to finish all the time on ebay. I would love to quilt one from a country far away. Maybe someone else would too.
A pieced quilt top is made by cutting up many different colors of fabric into small pieces and sewing it back together to form a pattern. There are thousands of free quilt patterns on the internet.
The top is sold to someone that wants to build the quilt. A quilt is finished by sandwiching the top, the middle is batting, and the back is usually a solid piece of fabric. A quilter sews all three layers together, and trims the raw edges with a binding fabric. Because you are using small pieces of fabric you can cut up fabric from clothing, the more different scraps you use the more interesting the quilt top.
